Starting the new year with the confidence that my hair will never experience a horrible cut again. I have found my salon and stylist.. it only took 6 years. Yes that’s right, I spent the last six years with a “whatever” to “wtf” haircuts
The feeling of “I can fix it at home” was gone the moment Preston threw my hair forward after styling it. I was so happy and relieved that I have a place to come for as long as I live in San Francisco and they remain in business.
Population Salon has two locations in San Francisco, one in the mission and one in the panhandle. I headed to the one in the mission on 14th and Guerrero. Appointments are made online and in order to secure your appointment you do need to add your credit card, so make sure to cancel with plenty of notice so you’re not charged. The salon itself is beautiful with a very IG worthy waiting area.
Beautiful plants hang from everywhere giving the salon a very calm vibe. The hair washing area is the cutest, with vintage style tin buckets. The staff are all so friendly and have a cool style. The whole experience was wonderful. I wanted cut off three inches and add blunt texturized layers. So I needed to find THE stylist that could achieve this look. When you book your appointment online, the names of the stylist are listed, i took this time to try and find them on IG in order to see their work. Preston’s work was exactly what I wanted and went ahead and booked with him. During my appointment I felt fully comfortable telling him “I trust you, do what you do best”. I went to the salon with my hair straightened so that he could see where the shorter layer were from the previous cut and I didn’t want them touched so that they can continue to grow out. He was happy that I made this decision because it made his work easier.
My hair is naturally wavy, and the shorter pieces curl up much faster. Preston did an amazing job, I couldn’t believe my eyes when he was done. He’s a lovely individual and we had great conversations throughout the appointment. The cherry on top was that I was expecting to pay 100+ dollars, but instead my total way 65! I couldn’t believe it, this made me even happier! A bomb ass hair cut that didn’t break the bank! #winning
If you’re looking for a new salon or are in the same predicament that I was in, come to Population. All the stylists rotate from each salon,
which is great depending on whom you want to cut your hair and your location. So there’s no excuse ever again for a bad haircut!
