New York City in Decemeber

48 hours in New York City.

Gavin and I have been wanting to take a trip to NYC for some time now, so when he suggested we go, I was ready! Here’s everything we did…

Where We Stayed

DoubleTree by Hilton New York Downtown: We found a great deal via booking.com – We paid a little over 200 for the night. The hotel itself was clean and the staff were all friendly. We arrived at 8am and they let is check in immediatley. The hotel itself is clean, somewhat modern and safe. The location is in a great area – near multiple metro stations, clean & safe, light car & foot traffic and near restaurants & bars. I could definetly make this my go-to hotel everytime I visit NYC.

What To Pack

NYC in December can range from cold to freezing. It is extremly important to pack the proper clothes, which means buying the right layers and bringing a good pair of shoes. Here are some items i reccomend having in your suitcase.

What To Do

In two days we were able to see and experience a lot and yet there is still plenty for us to still explore. To get around we only took a cab from JFK to NYC, from there we took the Subway everywhere. Gavin used iMaps and I used Google Maps, of the two Google Maps was much more precise in getting us to whatever location the fastest and easiest. Heading back to the airport, it’s always a good idea to give yourself plenty of time to account for NY traffic or the 3 train process. There was so much traffic in the evening that the three trains were a faster option.

Where To Eat/Drink

NYC is filled with thousands of great options for a meal, snack, or a drink. I did some research of some place that we HAD to try and used Open Table to make reservations. Make those reservations!! It saves so much time and you have a place to look forward to through out the day. Here is a list of places we ate in and each one made us say ‘wow!’.
