A German Christmas Market ✔️
I finally made a dream come true by visiting my very first Christmas Market in Germany. It’s been a goal of mine to experience and German Christmas Market because they are considered the best. If you’re planning to visit FranKfurt this holiday season, I created this guide for you!
From navigating Frankfurt to Christmas market tips, here is your guide to the Frankfurt Christmas market.

Where to stay:
The Westin Grand Frankfurt: This beautiful hotel is located in the heart of Frankfurt. Just about everything is walkable from the hotel and if the subway is needed, there is a stop a block away. I really enjoyed my stay – everyone was so kind and helpful. The room was beautiful and roomy! Plenty of space to unpack and spread-out. My favorite part, the full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash! I highly recommend booking your stay here!
Address:
KONRAD ADENAUER STRASSE 7, FRANKFURT, GERMANY, 60313
Where to visit:
Frankfurt is a city full of things to see and do. Easy to navigate by foot or train and Google Maps friendly. At first glimpse, Frankfurt can seem very modern but as you explore, there are so many classic German experiences. If you’re looking for a more tradition experience, Römerberg Square is perfect! I also recommend taking the train to small neighboring towns.
I spent the day in Heidleberg, Germany and it was perfect! Read more about the day trip here.
Heres what I recommend checking out while in Frankfurt
- Explore Römerberg Square
- Frankfurt Cathedral
- Cafe Hauptwache ( hot chocolate with cream).
- Palmengarten
- MyZeil (shopping mall)
- St. Paul’s Church
- Museum District

Where to eat:
So many cafes, bars and restaurants you’ll want to check out – it will be hard to choose, especially if you plan on visiting the Christmas market day/night. If i had to pick one place from the list below, I would choose Elaines Deli. Amazing coffee, food and plenty of options for dietary restrictions.
- Elaine’s Deli
- Elaine’s Greenhouse
- Ramen Jun
- Cafe Karin
- Balance Deli
- Chicago Meatpackers Frankfurt
- Fridas Cafe

The Christmas Market

Opening Hours:
- Monday – Saturday: 10am – 9pm

Location:
The Frankfurt main square, Romerberg, is the focal point of the holiday festivities – and is the best in town! The square is jam-packed with vendors selling gluhwein (hot wine), German fare and traditional holiday gifts. The famous Frankfurt Christmas Tree and an old-fashioned carousel are also found on the main square.
Eat + Drink
- Reibekuchen – potato pancakes
- Handkas – or Hand Cheese
- Warm pretzels
- Roasted almonds
- Gingerbread treats
- Bethmannchen marzipan cookies
- Frankfurter Rindswurst sausage
- Mulled wine (honey wine, apple wine and cherry wine were my favorite)
- Hot chocolate
- Christmas beer
What to do:
- Shop for Frankfurt Christmas gifts and souvenirs
- Take a photo with the 100-foot-tall Christmas Tree that stands in front of Romer (City Hall).
- Take your time visiting all the merchant huts
- Watch/ride the carousel
After hours, head to Binding Schirn Bar. A tiny bar with the coolest staircase that leads downstairs to the bathrooms. The bar was busy with locals and inexpensive beer.
