Heidelberg is a city unlike any other in Germany. Heidelberg is home to the Heidelberg built in 1386 and the worlds strongest beer.
I flew to Frankfurt for my first German Christmas market and wanted to utilize my time in a neighboring town for a day. After a few days of research I decided to visit Heidelberg.
Here is how to spend the best day in Heidelberg Germany:

Transportation:
The train ride to Heidelberg from Frankfurt is one hour. The trains leave on time and wait for no one. Be sure to give yourself enough time to buy your ticket and bring a face mask – they are mandatory to ride the train.

What to do:
- Heidelberg Castle
- Heidelberger Tun (Giant Wine Barrel)
- Pharmacy Museum
- The castle’s terrace
- Tram to Königsstuhl
- Altstadt (Old Town)
- Church of the Holy Spirit
- Alte Brücke (Old Bridge)

Where to eat:
Vetter’s Alt Heidelberger Brauhaus:
A local recommended this restaurant and it was perfect! The environment was cozy with dim lighting and candle on the table. I ordered the Schnitzel with a flight of their in house beers, including their strongest beer. I had a great time in here, eating, drinking and people watching.
